Jobo USA announces "Papersafe" a photo publication dedicated to analog photography

Papersafe is the first ever zine to be published by Jobo USA.
This new independent publication, is a submission based, limited print edition, published three times a year, and is dedicated to Analog photography.

The first issue of Papersafe - #1: “Sage” scheduled to be released the second week of March, 2014, will include two segments: A 10-15 image portfolio of two emerging photographers and a compilation photozine that will be a curated survey of the submission.

For our inaugural issue we are seeking film-based photographic work that is related to or inspired by the word “sage”. Show us some profound wisdom, lost wisdom, or spirits you've gotten rid of... or have found. There are no wrong answers, interpret in whatever way you see fit.  You can use these ideas (and title) as a fresh and new way to think about and look at your work and create a sequence of maybe otherwise unrelated images.

Though we love in-depth, completed series, we're not necessarily looking for them.

We're about the images, and we want to see a strong, cohesive group of images, regardless if they come from a larger body of work or not. You can use these ideas (and title) as a fresh and new way to think about and look at your work and create a sequence of maybe otherwise unrelated images.

Submissions for Issue #1: 'Sage' open - January 01, 2014

DEADLINE: All submissions due by January 22, 2014

Submission guidelines:
What: All work must be film based in origin
How many: Up to 20 images
File size: Minimum 2000 pixels on the short side as JPEG
What else: Include a short statement (when applicable), bio and website url
How to send: Send images in a compressed folder (zip, rar etc.), via email, dropbox or wetransfer.com to:  papersafe@jobo-usa.com

Papersafe is curated and edited by talented photographer Trevor Powers. He has come onboard because he is passionate about analog photography and is excited to work with and support the community based around it.  He brings a critical eye and understanding of the ever-expanding independent publishing market and network, and understands the importance of careful editing and the value of quality over quantity.

Powers (b. 1985, Burlington, VT) is an artist living in Western Massachusetts. He studied photography at The School of the Museum of Fine Arts, in Boston, where he graduated from in 2008.  He has exhibited work throughout the United States and has been included in various publications around the world. He is interested in making art that is simple, accessible and personal. He is also an avid curator, events organizer, and zine publisher.

CatLABS and Jobo-USA are committed to the expansion and betterment of Papersafe, with the hope of creating something new and exciting for an amazing community of film photographers worldwide.
